Government To Grade Greenness of Cars

A revolutionary new system has been proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Transportation Department. The new rules would grade the greenness of passenger vehicles with an A through D rating.

The label is determined by a car's fuel efficiency and emissions. Electric cars and hybrids would receive an A, and large vehicles such as SUVs would likely receive a lower grade, such as a C or C-. The report card system is seen as an effort by the Obama administration to promote electric and hybrid cars. The motor vehicle industry however, says the government is going too far and should not be responsible for placing value on cars.
